NEWS:OxFilm, a new organization under the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council 501c3 umbrella, is proud to announce a recent gift of $40,000 to establish the filmmaker’s equipment loan program. The gift will allow OxFilm to purchase film equipment and establish a program that will loan equipment to promote film making in Lafayette County. The film equipment will be purchased in April and available to rent in May.This gift is key to building and attracting film production as part of the economic impact that the Arts have on the region. Currently, film productions have to bring equipment with them or rent equipment from out of state to support film production in the region. This will increase the regions ability to attract films and provide tools to local filmmakers. Local filmmakers, who are members of OxFilm, will receive discounted rental rates on the equipment or will be able to apply for a grant to use the equipment. Proceeds from the equipment rental will fund future equipment purchases. This gift follows the campaign to launch the OxFilm which raised nearly $7,500 from generous local donors and memberships in the organization. The $40,000 donation was courtesy of Steve Bozeman, Jr. who said he hopes that the donation encourages others to support the program. Bozeman will be named as a founding sponsor of OxFilm. Other founding sponsors are Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, Oxford Bank Association, Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau with friends of OxFilm Amelia Presents, Hampton Inns and Vox.
